I love this fan!

I love this fan for the following reasons:
1. it's really quiet
2. it's powerful and covers a wide range
3. it's novel ( different, yet attractive )
4. it's inexpensive
5. it's delivered quickly and safely
The only drawback is it's all plastic, but still durable.
I highly recommend this product.

Quietest fan I've ever had

I bought this fan after reading many of the reviews here. I have sensitive hearing and this fan is truly quiet on speed 1. Speed 2 isn't bad and speed 3 is louder but I rarely have to use anything but speed 1. I use my fan in my bedroom for direct cooling. I experienced the annoying ticking of the timer when I first got it and tried it out, but as long as you don't turn that knob, the fan doesn't tick. Some reviewers complained that the fan doesn't really oscillate. The grill rotates counterclockwise and moves the air only a little, not nearly as much as a fan that moves from side to side. I get dizzy if I watch it. $20 is a great price for this awesome little fan. I highly recommend it. I'll be buying another one.

I love this fan!

I bought this fan to take on a seven week cruise to South America. It was quiet and powerful. Not only did it keep my cabin cool but the low level noise helped to block out unwanted sounds. Originally I planned to leave it on the ship but ended up bringing the fan back home on the plane. What a bargain!

Great small fan

I bought this fan to put in our laundry room where we house our border collie while we're away. The fan is perfect for wall mounting and comes with the screws needed for mounting. It did create a problem that the controlls are on one side since my originaly location would have made it so I could never see the controls while mounted. The timer is a nice feature, but I mostly just keep it on all the time. The fan is very quiet and does a good job moving the air. The ocilation function is great, making it especially easy to use when mounted in a confined area like a corner since it doesn't pivot the fan head, instead roatating the angled vents on the face of the fan to blow air in different directions.

I really like this fan and would buy another one in a second if I needed another. But really, its my border collie who apreciates this fan the most.

Most Effecient Design in Fans EVER~~~The Best

I have had 3 fans that operate on this concept for over 4 years now. They were made by the w.b.marvin co. which has unfourtunately gone out of business. I cannot stand a regular osculating fan now. These CIRCULATE the air for a more comfortable feeling. The fan blades turn clockwise and the grill goes counter clockwise. The added bonus with this brand and model is that you can rotate the direction of the fan within the stand.

I got this to take on vacation with me. It is a bit smaller than the other 3 I have and is much less expensive than I paid for them.

There is a brand on Amazon that is made for infants rooms and it operates with this type air circulation. They state a study has been done that having a circulating fan like this in the room reduces the rate of SIDS deaths by 72%. You can do a search and read more. That is not my statement but one made here on Amazon.

I can just tell you on speed one it is quiet enough to sleep with. When you have it in an average living room or bedroom there is just a constant gentle breeze. I can set my AC to a higher temp when I run these and feel much cooler.

I tried the timer and mine is silent so I cannot complain about that. I have no use for that anyway.

I cannot recommend these enough. Anyone who has been to my house and felt how these move the air has been amazed. Once you use this technology yhou will never go back to regular fans.

The only con I can find is that it is shipped in the box alone. It is not put inside another box to protect it. My box looked like it had been through the war. I was afraid I would find just a bunch of broken plastic inside but it was in one piece and works just fine.

Super quiet and moves a lot of air!

I now own 3 of these...They are the quietest fans I've ever owned. Many fan companies claim their fans are quiet, but they're not even close. These are very quiet on all three speeds. You have the option to have the grille oscillate or not and can point these fans any direction because the housing swivels at an angle. We use them in our home office to cool down the PC's and to distribute the cold A/C air coming out of the floor vent. You wouldn't even know they are on except that you can feel a strong breeze even on the lowest speed. I've spent over $100 for fans and they can't compete with these! I hope they don't stop making this wonderful model.

soleus air fty-25 10-inch fan

i am so pleased with the Soleus fan, that i am thinking of purchasing another. it moves quite a bit of air and yet it is very quiet. last summer i purchased a fan at 4 times the cost. Although it looked nice (metal, antique looking fan) it was so noisy that i would have to turn the fan off at night. the Soleus does not oscillate by moving the fan from one side to another. the "screen/wheel" rotates slowly in front of the fan to direct air flow. oscillation can be set on or off. because the head of the fan does not move it is great for small spaces, but it works just as well in a good size room. the timer is a nice feature. i had this fan on for 4 days straight during our 90+ degree heat wave and no problems what so ever.

Soleus Air Fan

Excellent Customer Service. Fan is very convenient. I love having the timer & the oscillation feature. I do plan to use the wall-mount feature this winter. I may order a second fan.

Very Quiet and Effective Little Fan

This fan is extemely quiet. It's quiet enough that we can sleep with it on with only a minimal amount of noise. I've had it for about a month now and use it every night to help pull more cool air from the air conditioning vent into the bedroom. Have had no problems whatsoever with the fan. We used the timer once just to see if it worked but did not notice the ticking noise others have mentioned. The manual that came with this fan did say there might be some ticking when the timer is activated. Overall, this fane is really cute (for a fan) and is very lightweight. It does the job I purchased it for and does it well.

Very quiet fan

I am a physician and my exam rooms can get a little stuffy, even with the doors open. I have placed one of these fans in each of my exam rooms and they are great for keeping the air circulating. I have had patients sit 6-8 feet away from the fan and ask me where the breeze is coming from. That's how quiet this fan is, at least on low setting. By keeping the air circulating, the exam rooms are much more comfortble. I have since bought two more for use in other rooms in the office. This is a great fan that will quietly keep air circulating. If you're interested in getting a fan that makes you think you're in a wind tunnel, I'd check elsewhere.

Quiet fan cools hot electronics

I am using this fan inside a cabinet to cool the STB, receiver, and DVD recorders. On the lowest speed, it is very quiet and keeps the equipment cool.

Excellent oscillating fan for my baby's room

I am extremely pleased with this fan, the timer does not make a problematic noise as a previous review had mentioned, so perhaps that person's fan was defective and needed to be returned, I don't know. You can hear it but only faintly. When it shuts off the brief clicking sound is barely audible. This was important to me because its in my baby's room and only about 6 feet or so from his crib. The timer works great, in fact. The fan is quiet, has three settings, and the oscillating feature is optional. All this, and an attractive design as well. It keeps my baby's room cool and comfortable. I have not used the wall hanging feature but its good to know its there just in case. Very reasonably priced too. Best fan I've ever owned. If I ever find that I need another fan I'll buy it again, absolutely.

Very quiet fan

I wanted a fan that I could place in my bedroom window to blow in cool evening air without too much fan noise. This fan is super quiet. It has three speeds and when set on #1 (slow) it is quieter than any other fan I've owned. And on speed #1 it still blows a significant amount of air. I plan on buying two more of these fans!

This fan also has a timer that will auto-shutoff so you can go to sleep with the fan on but not have to have the fan blowing all night long. The fan also has a "tip over" switch built in so it will shut off if it is not standing upright.

Best versatile fan

This fan lived up to it's description and reviews already posted about it. It has great power and quiet operation. The timer is a huge bonus and the stability to position the face in many directions. The oscillating feature doesn't function as well as other fans on a swivel or pivot but it's worth losing that for what you gain on the other aspects.

Great little fan

Bought this for an employee who's always hot while sitting at his desk. It's extremely quiet and puts out a lot of air. For the price and size, it really is a great little fan. The fan head does not move back and forth as most oscillating fans do. There is a cleverly-designed rotating grill on the face of the van, and it has variably-pitched fins, so as the grill slowly spins around, it directs air around the area in a circular sweeping motion. You can place the fan on your desk or mount it on a wall, and the fan head pivots 180-degrees to direct the flow as needed. Highly recommended.

BB

It's a great fan. It's quiet, has good air flow and circulates. It tips rather easily, but I would buy another one in spite of that. It's so very quiet and I really like that feature.

FAN-tastic

This fan is great -- quiet, good selection of speeds, low profile color and design. The oscilating feature is different than most fans -- the front "grill" spins to redirect the air, not the entire fan. So you can put it any where without is bumping something when it turns. No negatives.

My favorite fan

I decided to go without air conditioning this summer (money was a factor, but the main factor was that air conditioning fouls our common atmosphere while raising the outdoor temperature for everybody outside the cool cocoon). So I needed more fan coverage. I bought this Soleus on the basis of the very good user reviews and the low cost. What I got exceeded my expectations. I love the unique asymmetric design, with the key controls in front (most fans have them in the back). The fan stands on feet that look like seaplane pontoons. The grill has a beautiful oscillating pattern (but watch out, it can be hypnotizing). Functionally, it's very clever that only the grill oscillates, rather than the entire fan. Overall a very pleasing retro aerodynamic design. Then there is the silence. I own several fans, and this one is by far the quietest. A Vornado desk fan I have is far noisier, much more expensive, and it doesn't oscillate. The timer is a good, though by no means essential, feature; and it is not at all noisy, as one user says. And the price is surprisingly low. I would gladly have paid twice as much.

10" table / wall oscillating fan - quiet

I have three of these fans. I like the features, the ease of use, how quiet they are. I mounted two on the wall and they do a great job supplementing my house centeral air conditioning, moving air more to where I set and work in these two rooms. The fan head turns more than enough to point it and still mount it vertical on the wall. Looks good. I like the rotating grill much better than those fans that turn their whole 'body'. I used an extension cord and plugged it into the wall outlet that I can turn on both the room light and fan with a single click. Nice quiet unit.

A wonderful fan!

I'm very puzzeled by another poster's comments about the "ticking timer". With the timer dial turned fully counter-clockwise (marked 'ON', meaning constant running/no timer), the spring in the mechanical timer runs out of steam after maybe 15 minutes and the fan is one of the quietest I've ever had.

I originally bought this fan because of the wall-mounting feature, which I needed to equalize the air conditioning in my home. I planned to mount it in a doorway. Before I had time to hang it, I stuck it on top of the TV at the foot of my bed and it hasn't moved since!!! The rotating grill gives a nice, gentle, cool breeze every 30-45 seconds. Love it!

I could do without all the plastic, but this fan did hard time last summer and hasn't let me down this season. It needs a serious vacuuming, frankly.

Other fans from this manufacturer appear kinda cheezy, but the FTY-25 is a winner.

Soleus Air FTY125 10 inch fan

This fan is very quiet. I keep in the window at night to bring in the cool air. It is so quiet that I do not hear it and can sleep peacefully. I have purchased many fans that claim to be quiet and are not. This Soleus fan really is. A coworker had one in her small office, and it was quiet also. The fan moves the air efficiently without a wind tunnel effect. The timer works and and does not tick.

A personal fan with attitude!

Pardon the pun, but the Soleus Air FTY-25 is the coolest table fan I've ever owned. Unless you're really cramped for space, whisper operation, unmatched feature set, solid construction, interesting design and twenty dollar price point raise this fan well above a crowd of sameness.

On low speed it's near silent which makes it perfect for the night stand, creating a peaceful breeze across my bed . (Another reviewer noted a loud timer mechanism and Soleus may have rectified this. I have to put my ear right next to it, with the fan off, in order to hear it at all.)

High speed does a good job moving air, quietly at that - stand next to it and it'll cool you off fast. More suited to mild circulation in a large room at this and medium speeds, cooling off a larger room of folks is better left to larger table or floor and free-standing fans.

The neatest thing about the Soleus is the switch selectable spinning front grille which creates gentle fluctuating waves of air. A first showing to friends and family evokes a giddy response every time. Not as effective, or as abrupt, as a fan head swinging through a 140 degree arc, it nonetheless eliminates the static current one gets from a stationary fan.

The silent operation, the two hour timer, a unique soothing oscillation mode, the deco styling with a match-all finish, a reasonable footprint and mounting versatility make this the ultimate personal fan.

Very quiet, including a very quiet timer

This fan is whisper quiet, even at the highest speed. The tilt function is useful -- it tilts at a 45-degree angle, so it's necessary to reposition the entire fan as to direction once you have it tilted to aim it where you want the air to go.

The rotating grille, at first, looks symmetrical. On closer inspection, each successive louver changes angle as they move around the circle of the grille. Thus, when you turn the grille rotation feature on, the air sweeps in a wide conical pattern as it moves away from the fan. If you want the air to go in a particular direction, you can leave the grille rotation switch in the off position and rotate the grille by hand until the air is blowing in the direction you want.

I actually use the two-hour timer feature a lot. The exhaust fan in my bathroom is ineffective, so when I shower, I leave the door open and have a fan blowing into the bathroom so that moisture doesn't cling to the walls and cause mildew. After the shower, I keep the fan on for two hours to make sure the entire bathroom dries out. My tile stays mildew-free a lot longer when I do this. I can leave for work with the fan running.

During a heat wave, when it cools off at night as it does here, I set the fan in my window, up against the screen, to bring cool air inside. At bedtime, if it's still a few degrees too warm, I keep the fan on and use the 2-hour timer so it doesn't stay on all night.

This is the quietest fan I've ever owned, though not the most powerful. It's great for smaller rooms, especially the bedroom at night when it's warm. The timer is absolutely quiet. (If you happen to get one that ticks loudly as another reviewer did, it's defective and you should exchange it for another one.)

One other nice thing is that you can mount this fan on a wall or on a door jamb, high up and out of the way. There are a couple of key-hole shaped screw holes in the bottom of the feet to accept mounting screws. Very useful if you have a situation where you need the fan in a permanent place and you want it out of the way -- I'm going to mount it on the wall just outside my bathroom for just this reason and buy a second one for the living room, to use on the window sill.
